[Well. Looks like Yu wasn't kidding about the others reaching out to her on their own time. This is probably the most her phone's gone off in a day; t's a little exhausting, but at the same time she can't help but be amused.]
People keep talking to me today. I'm finally popular.
'Noting you could give,' is what she almost replies with, but that's overdramatic and kind of petty. All in all she's... sort of okay. She thought that maybe dying and coming back would be more traumatic (not that it wasn't, but she'd woken up warm and safe and all in all it hadn't been nearly as bad as she thought it'd be). She also thought dying might curb suicidal inclinations or her obsession with it, but...
Well. She'd made Lee a promise once before to not die anytime soon (permanently, anyway, because she's not sure temporarily dying like this really counted) and it wasn't like she sought death out freely, but if she hadn't made that promise, where would she be headed now?
She's been staring at text for a good five minutes now, debating how to respond, running it over in her head. Neji had died. She'd seen that, experienced it, and there's a dull throb to her midsection that reminds her painfully of that.]
I don't know. [She'll be honest, for now. She looks at the books that she'd woken up to find in her kitchen, tapping her fingers against the cover of Ouse's journal.
I can see you as well.
You are fixated with death. You are afraid of being alone.
I shall embrace you.
Come to me.
Ugh. She drops her head back against the couch.]
Were you spirited away too? Lee mentioned you went missing.
[If Lee had mentioned it, then did she really have to ask?]
Yes. What of it?
[And how long had she been missing- had she been on the same route Tenten had taken? His gut tells him no, but Neji is not Lee. He won't put full stock in it.]
[She could, too. A lot of people had died on that... mission? Adventure??; him being added to the body count wasn't too surprising, though she'd hoped otherwise.
Neji might be playing vague, but Yuri wasn't going to. It's easier doing it over text]
We were in a prison. There were a lot of spirits, but they couldn't tell me much; they'd been dead a long time and they'd forgotten a lot. I helped them move on, with the help of another girl. I thought I could learn something, but most of them starved to death. [And she'd woken up wanting to eat everything and feeling sick to her stomach. Fun times.]
Whatever was down there wasn't happy about us setting the prisoners free, even after death. It killed me and the other girl instantly. [She types that and then stares at the words for a long moment. Died. She'd died.
It was real, she knew it was, and she'd talked about it enough with Rei and Yu and Merlin. But somehow, seeing it written down, it was like a shock all over again. She'd been dead for three days.
She forces herself to continue] It all happened so fast. The other three were killed shortly after us. We learned a few things, but I'm not sure if it was enough to be worth it.
[ Yu heads out to the entrance to the park with only one thing in his hands: a small gift he'd made in what little time he had to make it. There are differences between him now and him in the prison, like someone's hit his off switch. In the prison there was an intensity, a sharpness to him at all times even when he was teasing, though she never saw the most focused pieces of him, which came only after she died. Now, though, all that intensity is gone, and a much more normal teenager is left in its wake. He's only seventeen, the youngest of their group, though his maturity (versus some telepathic troublemakers) might sometimes suggest otherwise.
He'll wait for her there, idle and relaxed, and smile when he sees her. ]
Hey. I brought you something.
[ He'll hold out the little paper cat for her to take. ]
[There's almost no difference between her in the prison and her out of it-- she's quiet and serious, trying to betray nothing as she approaches.
(there's a slight furrow in her brow, the corner of her mouth turned down a little too sharply to be anything but anxiety and unease)
It disappears into a look of bafflement when she stops and he offers the cat.]
It-- What? [Eloquent. She looks at it then to him, eyes wide] Why? [She blurts it out and then realizes immediately how poor a reaction that was; her ears turn red and she reaches for the cat, taking it carefully.]
Sorry, I mean... Thank you. Did you make this yourself?
[ He's a little surprised when her reaction is so ... marked, and he couldn't help but notice the furrow in her brow from when she approached, too. There's clearly a lot going on, here, just like before. He worries for her. The cat, well...
... the cat was to try and alleviate a little bit of that. Did he go overboard...?
That her first reaction was to wonder why - to be so surprised that someone would give her such a small, simple gift ...
What does that say for her life?
All he does is smile a little, giving her a nod. ]
Yeah. I had a little time. As for why... I didn't know what you liked, but I thought this would be cuter than a crane.
[ Sorry, Yuri. He might have texted you earlier but he had a leech attached to him all afternoon... aka his s.o. hasn't been too happy about what happened and he's had to stick around her before talking to other people. Now though... well. ]
Don't tell me you aren't enjoying the attention?
I suppose that's the best I could ask for.
Sorry I took a while, I had things to take care of first.
...I like cats. [She mutters it, carefully holding the paper cat so as not to accidentally damage it, and smiles a little. Lee gave her things all the time--flowers, mostly--so she's come to expect it from him, but other people? Not so much.
She looks up and nods as well, posture relaxing] Thank you again. Um. [She felt like she'd come into this semi-prepared, but this has thrown it all a little off-track.] Should we walk while we talk? I want to know everything that's happened.
[ it's a good thing Souji's not that sensitive about dog jokes, because he just snorts and then starts moving. not too fast, but fast enough so that it doesn't seem that Souji's overly worried about Yuri keeping her balance (nice). ]
A park, huh? That's a good idea.
[ heh. ]
Or maybe I could take you to one of those gardens. You know, the ones with the flesh-eating plants and monster fish.
"lemmon" means beloved, I think? Translating it to a language you don't really know is weird it's just. A love song. It was the first happy song I could think of.
[ Then after, to clarify: ] I have a girlfriend.
[ Well at least it hasn't been a secret for a while ]
