INBOXtext / audio / video / actionThis is Kozukata Yuri. I'm sorry I missed your call. Please leave a message and I'll get back to you.art creditcode credit
[Yuri was asleep, but it's fine. She's sort of used to things waking her up in the middle of the night, though usually it's not something like a text. Though, this is a pretty worrying text...]
[A little bit later, maybe fifteen minutes or so, Rei knocks on the door and pokes her head inside. She's cleaner than she was a bit ago, changed into something fresh (sweatshirt and sweatpants, the very best clothes for being depressed in) but her face is still red from crying.]
I don't know exactly myself, but I reckon what that nun did was either change Deerington, or bring us to another version of it.
She mentioned Sodder, too -- getting a part of her essence.
Can you feel where Sodder is now? Anythin' different from last time? If it was just part of her, then she's gotta still be alive. Or we can bring her back.
[A couple minutes after she sends that text, she texts again.]
The mountain. Normally I can feel her everywhere, but she's definitely concentrated around the mountain now. If there's any way to get over there we might be able to find more. But we'd have to actually get over there.
[Luckily, the town had returned to... okay, not some semblance of normalcy, but it was easier to get around with the streets no longer rivers of blood, and so Ouse had figured it would be best to approach this sooner than later.
Also, she'd said she'd work on her Fluid thing. So maybe it's a lot of a surprise for Yuri to get a message from a user by the name of Ouse.]
[It's enough of a surprise that Yuri doesn't answer right away, staring in mild disbelief and confusion at the message. Then she realizes, oh yeah, Ouse's probably waiting on a response and kicks herself back into gear.]
[She is... bad at this, but it's an easy way to contact people. And several people have tried to get her to use it, so she does. About as much as the luddite old woman she secretly actually is.]
Yes everything is fine. Meet me outside the mayors house
[And also she types as painfully bad as an old lady]
[She is absolutely pecking at the keys with one finger like a grandma. What is thumb texting and why would you do that.
Either way, she arrives second to the party. She seems fine, though her hair is in a braid rather than bound up on top of her head. It looks a bit shorter than before, but is still obscenely long in general.
More importantly, she is carrying a book, and gently thumbing along the edge of the spine as she approaches.
She wasn't in a bad mood, but she brightens a bit at seeing Yuri.]
I tried to investigate the mountain with Majima-san, but we couldn't really get up there. But I somehow gained a pet from it? This crow won't leave me alone.
Ouse-san found something to investigate with her as well. It's nice to feel like I can help.
[She pauses and considers] It feels like death everywhere. It's exhausting. Lately, all I want to do is sleep.
Please tell me you're not talking about death mountain. [ Which is Mt. Rheum, for the record, but the way Majima described it when Logan asked means it's pretty much death mountain. But speaking of Majima, Logan's going to need to give him a stern talking to about exploring death mountain. God, these people. ]
And believe me, I wanna sleep too and I don't got mitori like you do.
The crow nice at least? You saying she investigated with Ouse?
Sitting, Rei pushes the tray into the center of the table and breathes in, enjoying the sweet, spicy scent of the cider and the delightfully aroma of freshly prepared chicken. It's so bad for them, but it's a wonderful taste all the same. Perfect for an evening like this.
"I believe so too. That cake looks wonderful," she says without a hint of a lie in her voice. It does look good, and she promised Yuri she'd say it was great either way. Even if she had a backup cake in the fridge. One she storebought.
"I spiced the cider myself, but the rest of it is all bought. I couldn't think of a more romantic drink that would pair well with the food. Pepsi doesn't feel like the proper thing for an evening with someone as special to me as you."
Taking up her own cup, she wraps her fingers around it, letting the warmth seep into them.
"I like seeing you smile. So why don't we make our first toast to that? To smiling together."
9/18 right around midnight.

Sure!

I'll be there in a few minutes.
[And true to her word she'll arrive in fairly short order, expression concerned and uncertain. Sure Ouse said everything was fine but was it really.]

Reeks of death everywhere.
