It's fine. [She says it again with a small wave of her hand, looking over her shoulder. Why...Why is he still at the window...] ...You can come in, if you want. Don't worry about your shoes. [Yuri sure as hell doesn't care anymore. Lee just ran the length of the city and up a fucking wall, he can wear boots and track mud everywhere on her ceiling if he wants to at this point. Who is she to stop him???
Yuri thinks it sounds amazing-- honestly, she can't help but feel a little jealous. He gets to be born in a world where people can do cool things like that, and she gets saddled with bullshit "see how the dead people died and feel their pain" powers? She wants a re-roll.
The window had led into her living room (even if it had led to her bedroom it would've been fine, there's practically nothing in there), which connected to the kitchen so that's where she'll head. Hope u like coffee, Lee.
She glances up curiously.] But-- [Her brow furrows a little, confused.] You ran all the way here, carrying me and everything... Chakra didn't have anything to do with that?
[And so Rock Lee stops crouching like a gargoyle with a bowlcut and slides into the room. He'll just stand around awkwardly and watch Yuri do her business.
Coffee will be a new experience for Lee... Try to go easy on the caffeine.]
No, I only used chakra to run up the walls. Everything else... was hard work!
[He pumps a fist proudly.]
The only way I could make it as a shinobi with my problem involving chakra was to work tirelessly at perfecting every physical aspect that I could! To be a splendid ninja using just the physical arts, taijutsu - that has been my ninja way!
Problem? Oh. [Yuri winces slightly, suddenly feeling bad.] I'm sorry, I didn't mean to bring up anything... painful, or anything.
[But she continues as she moves around the kitchen.] But that just makes it even more impressive. You're strong, and... You're like the poster boy for the belief that working hard enough will get you anywhere. It's really admirable.
You're already a 'splendid ninja.' You should find another goal. [It's said easily, matter-of-factly. She pulls down some tea cups and stares at them a moment, considering as she sets them aside.]
Do you like coffee? I should have asked before I started making it...
[Rock Lee beams in response, blushing a little at her praise.]
Th-thank you, Yuri-san! Your words are so kind... Please do not worry! It is not a problem for me! But a new goal? I am always seeking new goals... mostly they are to protect the people who are precious to me! [And he looks at her directly in the eyes as he says that.
Then, he looks more curious as she brings up the coffee.]
Coffee?! Ah... I have never had such a drink! But I would gladly try it, Yuri-san! I do not want your work to have gone to waste!
That's a good goal. [Is what Yuri says as she looks up, freezing when she catches his eye.] Huh...? [She shouldn't be embarrassed, she thinks, because there's nothing particularly embarrassing about what he said or anything. But... She feels her face turning red all the same and she fumbles with the cup in her hands, quickly looking down at it and breaking their held gaze. What the hell...]
I... I'll do my best. [She pushes the feelings away for now, because they're unnecessary and weird and she didn't ask for this okay.] I worked at Hisoka's cafe at home, and one here, but... I haven't actually made coffee to serve anyone else before. [She's just a waitress at the cafe in town, so that didn't count.]
I'll try not to make it too strong... Do you like sweet things? Coffee plain is usually pretty bitter, especially to first-time drinkers. You might want to put milk and sugar in it or something. [She's sort of half-babbling to distract herself. Who needs feelings, not her.]
Th-thank you. [He tried to keep up the gaze, but she seemed to turn red and Lee wondered if he said something wrong. At the same time, his own face was flushing somewhat, even as he was confused as to the reason.] Did I... say something wrong...?
[Then he offers her a reassuring smile and raises a thumbs up.]
I know that you will do your best, Yuri-san, and I know that I will be pleased with whatever you prepare! [He hums thoughtfully.] I see. Milk and sugar does sound wise, Yuri-san! Bittersweetness is the flavor of youth, so I would certainly prefer that over pure bitterness! I have made my choice!
No... I just, um... [She's not sure how to explain it when she doesn't quite get it herself.] I guess I just got... overwhelmed by your enthusiasm. [yeah that works.
Yuri finishes pouring the coffee and spares Lee an amused look as she mixes in the requested milk and sugar. When she finishes she stares at the coffee a moment before rummaging around her kitchen for a toothpick. It's not the same as making a design in the foam on a latte or whatever, but there's a cute little leaf design on the top of the coffee. Huzzah.
She brings the cup over to the table and gestures for him to come sit down.] "Sometimes life is merely a matter of coffee and whatever intimacy a cup of coffee affords." [Yuri pauses and continues softly.] That's what Hisoka always used to say. That the little warmth a cup of coffee can offer can make all the difference.
Then I apologize! I promise to do my best to restrain my enthusiasm in the future! [That might prove to be difficult.
But once the coffee is done, he eagerly zips over to the seating place and listens patiently as she recites that quote. He had heard of coffee, but he never suspected before that it was such a deep matter! Rock Lee tries to wipe at some tears in his eyes when she finishes speaking.]
That- that was very beautifully spoken, Yuri-san! I never knew the secrets behind coffee. [His expression melts more at the sight of the leaf design, and then he looks back at her with a determined look.]
I promise that I will not let this gift of warmth go away! I will treasure it, Yuri-san!!
[Then, he lifts up the mug and... starts chugging it down mercilessly.]
